"Our 2017 Build Trip will be one of our most spectacular." - Karl Hale
DATES: JULY 6-10, 2017
Our trip is lead by two significant leaders:
Orlando D. Franklin (born December 16, 1987) is a Jamaican-born Canadian professional football player with the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Franklin was raised in Toronto from the age of three. When he found himself in some trouble as a teenager, his mother moved with him to Florida to play football as a high school junior, attending Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, Florida subsequently playing college football at the ‘The U” University of Miami. He and his family is traveling back to Jamaica with the intention of improving the lives of the islands youth through education and mentorship, we are proud to call him a partner of HHJF.
Honourable Daryl Vaz works in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation in Jamaica, with responsibility for the land, environment, climate change and investment portfolios. Vaz has served Jamaica in several capacities and is very involved in his community. He created a community enterprise called the Fruitful Vale Life Improvement Project which provides part-time employment, provides more affordable options of food and supplies for education institutions and more. He continues to fulfill his role as the sitting Member of Parliament for Western Portland, in which he has done so since 2007. Not only does he love and support his community but he is also a loving husband and father to five beautiful children.
